Citizen Smith's Liar

Midlands based band Citizen Smith produced their first video last weekend for their track 'Liar' and I was director and cameraman. I have worked previously behind the scenes of a music video (a Cradle of Filth one directed by Alex Chandon) but working on 'Liar' I got to be cameraman for the first time.

It was a low budget affair, the three band members, the guitarist's brother and myself. We filmed in an empty and bleak warehouse giving the video a stark and grungy look.

I used my Canon XL1s which for this kind of low budget, low lit shoot was perfect. The shoot took half a day and the edit took one day. Just the way low budget films should be. The end result looks great by the way and something I am quite pleased with. The cirumstances and low budget nature are irrelavant if the end product is satisfactory.

I have a taste for shooting music videos now but who knows when I will get to do it again.
